Alpha Zeta's Beginnings
Delta Kappa Gamma Society was formed May 11, 1929 in Austin, Texas. Beta State of Alabama was founded seventeen months later in Montgomery, Alabama, December 19, 1931. The installation of the Beta State Founders was conducted at the Jefferson Davis Hotel. Alpha Zeta Chapter was organized February 7, 1942. Alpha Zeta celebrated its 75th anniversary this year. Charter members were:

Since the founding of Alpha Zeta Chapter, 101 other chapters have been organized in Alabama. Alpha Zeta Chapter awards a $500 Grant in Aid to a high school senior preparing to enter the teaching profession. Alpha Zeta Chapter’s mission continues to promote professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.
